Skopelos is a verdurous island which belongs to the county of Magnesia . It is located in the central - northwest Aegean sea, east of the Pelion mountain and north of the island of Euboea . It is the biggest of the North Sporades islands, after Skyros , with a population of 5,500 permanent residents.

Skopelos has three ports, one in the main town, one in Loutraki (near Glossa) and one in Agnodas.

Most of the beaches in Skopelos are on the South and West sides of the island. You can choose among beaches with sand or pebbles. Some of the beaches are:

You can reach our island by boat, catamaran or flying dolphin from Volos or Agios Konstantinos and by boat or catamaran from Salonica. Agios Konstantinos is located 166 km on the National Highway from Athens to Salonica. You can go to Agios Konstantinos by car or by bus. The bus departs from Canning square in Athens , about 3 hours before each departure from Agios Konstantinos to Skopelos (More information at: Alkyon travel agency, tel. +30 210 3843202).

The distance between Skopelos and Volos is 60 sea miles which means 2 and half hours by flying dolphin and catamaran and 3 hours and 40 minutes by boat. Distance (and time) is almost the same between Skopelos and Agios Konstantinos (61 miles). Salonica is 120 sea miles from Skopelos which means 4 hours by catamaran and 7 hours by boat.

Flying dolphins, catamarans and one of the boats are run by the Hellenic Seaways Company. There are also flying dolphins operated by the VOSPO company . The rest of the boats belong to the GA Ferries and SAOS Ferries companies. Travel agents of the companies can give you more information for the itineraries.
